How Invisalign Works

There aren’t brackets, wires, or adjustment appointments with Invisalign. So, how does it work? Essentially, we use a custom series of clear aligners to guide your teeth and bite into their ideal positions. You’ll wear each one for 20-22 hours a day and for 7-14 days at a time. Then, every 6-8 weeks, you’ll come to our office so we can make sure you’re on track with your treatment plan. This process will repeat until you’ve worked through all of your trays and have achieved the desired results.

Who Invisalign Can Help

Crowded Teeth

If your teeth have rotated out of position because there isn’t enough room in your mouth for them to sit in their proper places, we have good news: you may be a candidate for Invisalign! If you are, then we can create a straighter, healthier, and more aesthetically pleasing smile without noticeable brackets and wires.

Gaps Between Teeth

Of course, some patients are dealing with the opposite problem: there is too much space in their mouth, resulting in noticeable gaps. If that’s the case for you, we still recommend coming to our office to explore your treatment options. You may be surprised to find out that Invisalign is right for you!

Bite Alignment

In addition to addressing crooked and gapped teeth, Invisalign can correct several common bite problems, including overbites, underbites, and crossbites. So, if you think that traditional braces are your only option, think again!

The Benefits of Invisalign

Over 20 years since its debut, Invisalign continues to be a highly sought-after orthodontic treatment because:

  • The aligners are basically invisible
  • There aren’t any dietary restrictions
  • The average treatment timeline is 12-18 months
  • There aren’t monthly adjustment appointments
  • The aligners don’t have any metal components

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

You might be surprised to hear this, but there isn’t a flat fee for Invisalign. The reason for this is simple: there isn’t a one-size-fits-all treatment plan! In order to provide you with an estimate of the cost, we need to first determine if single-arch treatment is possible, how many aligners must be made, and if additional accessories are needed, like rubber bands. Then, we can create your custom treatment plan and discuss the different financial solutions that are available.

Invisalign Teen

Now that you know orthodontics for teens extends beyond metal braces, your child may be interested in Invisalign. As a suitable solution for younger patients, this unique system works similarly to the traditional one used for adults, but it includes a few small differences to ensure a more age-appropriate treatment. Keep reading to learn how Invisalign Teen works so that your child can get ready for a straighter smile.

How is Invisalign Teen Different?

Invisalign Teen is different from its traditional counterpart in two ways:

  • It uses a series of blue dots that serve as compliance indicators.
  • Invisalign Teen comes with replacement trays.

The blue indicator dot is designed to fade over time, signaling that your teen has been wearing their aligners the recommended amount of time (20-22 hours a day). If the blue dot remains vibrant after several weeks, it indicates they are not wearing their trays properly, which will likely result in a delay.

If your teenager accidentally loses their aligners, you’ll be pleased to know that these trays can be replaced at no extra cost. You should note that if this happens too many times, the cost will begin to increase.

Is Invisalign Right for Your Teen?

The only way to know for sure if Invisalign Teen is right for your child is to schedule a consultation with our office. Dr. Nicole will meet with you and your teenager to discuss the desired treatment outcomes. She will then examine their smile to determine the severity of their crooked, crowded, gapped, or misaligned teeth or bite.

Based on her findings, she will determine if they can wear Invisalign. If so, you can expect us to discuss how treatment works and what kind to expect along the way (i.e., wear time, flexibility, etc.). We’ll also make sure they know how to properly clean their teeth and aligners throughout treatment so that everything remains healthy and on track.

The Benefits of Invisalign Teen

Invisalign Teen is an ideal alternative to traditional braces, but their discreet appearance isn’t the only benefit your teenager can expect. They also:

  • Require no food restrictions
  • Require fewer follow-up appointments
  • Produce shorter treatment timeframes (on average)
  • Are easy to clean
  • Allow your teen to participate in sports or play a musical instrument
  • Are removable
  • Are comfortable to wear
